Abstract

Flue gas analysis is essential for optimizing combustion efficiency, reducing fuel costs, and ensuring safety by detecting dangerous emissions like carbon monoxide. An amperometric YSZ-based sensor for simultaneous measurement of the concentrations of residual oxygen and unburnt species (CO, H2) in flue gases has been developed. The sensor has a simple structure and is easy to fabricate, providing a cost-effective solution. It demonstrates high sensitivity, good reproducibility and acceptable response time. The use of the sensor for the in-situ real-time analysis of flue gas will facilitate the optimization of air-fuel ratios, thereby preventing fuel wastage and hazardous emissions.
