Author Guidelines

Electrochemical Materials and Technologies's Editors are committed to publishing high quality novel papers which make a significant contribution within the scope of the journal. In order to meet this aim and to provide the best service for authors, submitted manuscripts have to meet the essential criteria for publication in the journal.

Please note that all new submissions will be accepted and published in English only.

Before you begin

Please see our information page to learn about various journal's policies - our Focus and Scope, Section policies, where types of the articles are characterized, and the complete description of the Peer Review Process. Make sure that you understand our Code of Ethics, for the journal and its editorial board fully adhere to its principles, and require authors to comply to them as well.

A submission may be immediatly rejected by Editor without external review if the manuscript falls into one or more of the following categories:

  • the manuscript clearly falls outside the scope of the journal;
  • the work is of poor scientific quality such that it is clearly not suitable for publication in a scientific journal;
  • the novelty of the work falls below that required for the journal;
  • the quality of English in the manuscript is so poor as to render the research results presented unclear;
  • the manuscript does not comply to our Code of Ethics, e.g. when the cases of academic mischief are found;
  • the manuscript has already been reviewed and rejected by the our journal, and the author(s) have made little or no attempt to address the previous recommendations of the Editor and/or referees;
  • less than five external referees have been suggested in the cover letter;
  • the manuscript is not formatted in accordance with the rules described below.

The following applies ONLY to the manuscripts with at least one coauthor affiliated with Ural Federal University: the manuscript will NOT be considered for publication if it has not been issued an explicit permission to be published in accordance with our university's internal Export Control procedures.

Manuscript preparation

Manuscript should be prepared in MS Office (.doc, .docx) format according to the following template:

Article template (.docx)

All requirements regarding the structure and layout of the article, including the guidelines for the illustration, tables and references formatting, could be found in the template file. Please do not apply any extensive formatting - it will not help us in any way and could only hinder the work of our layout editors.

Manuscript submission

After you register with this website you should be able to start a new submission. It is a rather self-explainatory 5-step process provided by the OJS publishing system, so we'll just leave a few hints here:

  • We require the authors to submit a brief (1-2 paragraphs is usually enough) cover letter alongside with the manuscript. A cover letter should be addressed to the editors to justify the importance of the work submitted. The authors may suggest up to 5 possible reviewers. These suggestions are often helpful, although they are not always followed, since the editor is free to assign appropriate reviewers based on his/her judgment, regardless of the authors' suggestions. A cover letter should contain plain text only and has to be filled into the 'Comments for the Editor' text field during the step 1 of the online submission.
  • All required and optional metadata should be filled out in English.

If for some reason you're unable to complete the online submission process as described above, you can send an e-mail containing your manuscript and the cover letter to the journal's Principal contact or Editor-in-chief.
